Billboard

For those of you who haven't already heard, Piggly Wiggly took some photos of Zoe playing back in February at the Waterfront Park in Beaufort. We didn't give it another thought until we got a call a few weeks ago. They said they were using Zoe for their ad, and billboards! We were so excited! We found the billboard in West Ashley, and then a day later I got a call from the Beaufort Gazette wanting to write an article about the Piggly Wiggly and include Zoe in it. She said it would be a small article and when we got up this morning, she made the front page! We are so excited and proud of our sweet bird! We just had to brag a little and share with everyone!

Fishing...

With all the warm weather upon us we have had to go to the dock each day and practice our casting and fishing! So we have been trying to teach Zoe to cast her rod and teach her to fish.....She constantly says "Imma catch a whopper!" I love it!

Special.....

Zoe is so inquisitive! She is constantly tinkering with different things, such as her computer, Jason's XBox, her kitchen and play dough trying to figure out why it does this or that. Recently we were having a discussion about her eyes. She was asking how she saw things and then what color they were. I try to give her correct information  in terms she understands, but when it came to the color of her eyes I simply said " They are blue because God made you special and chose that color for you!" She loved it and then went around to Jason and myself to see what color eyes we had, and would say "Oh! Mama God made yours special, they are brown! Cause God made em' that way!" LOL

So of course when she was going through the closet and found a pair of my black high heels she places them on her feet. Struts out of the closet and around the room a few times before tipping over and falling! Then says "Wheew Mama! Those are some high heels, why are they that way?" Before I could even get a word out she pipes back up and says "Oh I know, they are special, God made them that way for us!" Bahahahaha...yes I'm sure God had those especially in mind for us women! LOL

Crafts are our little thing around here.....

WE (as in I ) are obsessed with any type of craft. Whether it be painting, paper, cotton balls we submerge in flour and water, scrap booking, sewing...well you get the picture. So thanks to Pinterest I stumbled upon a new way to transfer photos to canvas without paying an arm and a leg for the ones off line. (those are fabulous, but these are unique and handmade with love)  Last night I sat down and chose two photos to work on, and I am quite pleased with the way they came out even though the printer was running out of both black and colored ink. I think it adds a certain appeal of a weathered/vintage look.

Simple steps:
*Choose a photo from your collection
*Decide what size canvas you want to use, make sure you blow the photo up if needed or shrink to fit canvas
*Print photo on normal printer paper (make sure you mirror the photo in your printer settings) otherwise it will be backward
* Take your canvas and paint a light coating of Mod Podge on it
*Place photo face down smooth over edges and press out any air bubbles
*Allow to dry at least an hour if not more (I tried a hair dryer to speed up the process and everything worked great)
*Lightly mist the paper with water and roll off excess paper, careful not to rub too hard or you will bring the print off the canvas as well
*Allow to dry and brush off excess paper, then add another layer of Mod Podge and let dry!

*Voila! A great canvas print for your home or for a gift!

Prayers at Bedtime

We are trying to teach Zoe the right way to live, we do our best by showing her. Each evening at supper she says our blessing she either says "God is Great" or "Father, Father".  In the evenings when we lay her down for bed either Jason or I will say prayers with her, we tried teaching her "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" however she would never say it. A few weeks ago she started saying her own night time prayers and from now on every time she does it brings tears to our eyes. It is the sweetest most sincere prayer I have ever heard. She starts off with Thanking God for a beautiful day and time shared with our family, then she prayers for a good nights rest and then always asks to keep our family safe, the ones that are away from us and proceeds to name each one. I pray every night for her to keep this sincere innocence and love for the Lord and our family. I see her growing so much each and every day and the things she does and says just never cease to amaze me and remind me of how I need to live. We try our best to show her the right way to live and I swear she is the one who ends up showing us most of the time. My cup runneth over....I have been blessed beyond measure, thank you Lord for this precious gift you have to us.

Lots of crafts and experiments!

We have had a lot of new crafts to make, and new experiments to try. Today we baked cotton balls, yes you read correctly...baked cotton balls! We refer to them as dinosaur poop! LOL Great colorful balls, that are as fun to tear apart as they are to bake!

What you need:
1 cup of flour
1 1/2 cups of water
cotton balls
food coloring
Pam
cookie sheet
Bake at 300 degrees for 40 minutes

Here are the photos of our fun baking cotton!

Wow! They are just as soft and cottony on the inside even after they are baked! "Surprise" she said!

All she wants to do is DANCE....

Love watching this little girl dance, she is a little too much sometimes....

Our little Model....

We have always known Zoe loved to watch herself in the mirror no matter what she was doing. Now she can priss around in all the new outfits I make her and be my little model for Casey's Creations! Since falling in love with sewing she has no chance now! If it isn't every day it is every other day that I am creating a new dress or skirt of some kind! So her is our little model showing off some of her new outfits!

Crowns....

We made crowns for the Princess! It was so easy and Zoe had a lot of fun. Here are the steps we took in case you might like to make your own...LOL

Materials: Lace, rolling cutter(or scissors) fabric stiffener, paint, brushes and glue gun
We cut our lace to 14" (you may cut it longer for a larger crown)
Paint on stiffener, allow to almost dry, then repeat.
*After a few coats I put some stiffener in a cup and dunked the lace in it and brushed off the excess. This worked a lot better, and was much faster.
Allow drying  8-24 hours depending on the lace. This lace is very fine and thin and dried in a matter of about 6-8 hours.  Wn then painted the lace with a silver glitter paint. (Feel free to use any color you like)

 TADA!!! Zoe's Crown
I used 2 bobby pins to hold it in place! She loved it!
The Sassy Princess!

She constantly Amazes Me....

We are so very blessed to have such an amazingly smart, energetic, and outgoing daughter! I am teaching Zoe her alphabet as most of you know and I am also teaching her to sign, and write them as we learn them. She has simply picked it up so fast and just continues to amaze me at how fast she learns them. I sometimes think I don't stimulate her enough, or fast enough. I know at her age Doctors will tell you children are a sponge and I can see first hand how very true this is. I have been trying to catch her on video and managed to get her this time doing some of her alphabet. I hope you enjoy the excitement in her face, the enthusiasm as much as I do. Just had to brag a bit....
